What is RT on Twitter and Why is it useful

RT or ReTweet, in Twitter Terms is similar to a forward in email. If you see something you like, pass it along. If you only have a few followers, don’t over do it. In fact, if you have a thousand+ followers, don’t over do it.

Example

p.s.  thanks for the RT @mfubib

Why is it important
The number one reason why RT is important, is that you can pass along freelance jobs, posted to twitter, from  http://www.surefirehire.com to your network of followers. They will appreciate the job opportunity. Hopefully some day they will return the favor.

A lesson for Employers and Freelancers for Tough Times

I read a special report in INC. magazine, October 2008 edition, titled “Strategies for Tough Time”. I am uncertain of the author; however, he goes on to suggest different ways that smart business owners are coping with the down-turn in the global economy.

The author argues that to combat an economic down-turn, instead of laying off an employee, consider dropping their hours and allowing the employee to work for another employer at the same time.

If I were the employer and employee, I would take this approach one step further.  I would augment my staff by hiring freelancers too.  In this example, the employee who is working only ten hours for the given employer, now has the time to take on freelancing opportunities.

Employers: Price is not the only consideration when hiring a freelancer

If you select a freelancer on price only, other variables in the hiring process may be overlooked.

Building on a previous blog where I wrote about how to set yourself apart as a freelancer, here is another tip to help employers find a freelancer with soft-skills that can’t be measured by monetary valuation.

When you consider hiring a freelancer, several thoughts probably enter your mind.  In fact, according to several employers we have polled on “How to Hire a Freelancer”, reliability is a top consideration for hiring a freelancer.

When hiring through surefirehire, where talented experts can be hired, verify their feedback or testimonials if any, to ascertain how reliable they may turn out to be, before hiring a freelancer.

If you have not created an account with surefirehire, consider hiring freelancers on the surefirehire platform!

Employers and Project Managers: Consider a 60/40 mix of Full-Time Employees and Freelancers

When staffing a project where you have the option of hiring full-time employees and freelancers, consider a 60/40 mix of employees versus freelancers.

This allows the employer to keep the knowledge within the company once the project is complete; furthermore, during the project, you can hire freelance experts and reap the benefits of freelancers.

Press Release: Surefirehire.com Connects Entrepreneurs and Businesses with Freelancers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Surefirehire.com Connects Entrepreneurs and Businesses with Freelancers

Houston, TX, March 15, 2009 – A new services website launched today with one goal in mind: helping small to medium sized businesses and entrepreneurs reduce IT and administrative spends by hiring freelancers to do short-term project-related works. Surefirehire.com is an online talent marketplace where businesses can post a job to hire an expert, and freelancers can bid on jobs. Bidding begins with a job posting and ends with a freelancer getting hired for the job. It’s that easy.

Surefirehire.com enables small businesses to get access to talent and expertise for fulfilling short term projects or jobs. It allows these businesses to hire experts without having to go through the process of hiring a full time or part-time employee. The businesses can save the administrative overhead that accompanies the process of posting job advertisements to recruit qualified candidates, and these businesses will not have to pay salaries and benefits to freelancers as in the case of full-time employees. The freelancers win because they can work on as many projects as their skill set and time would allow, and earn handsomely for it while working from anywhere they please. Surefirehire.com allows freelancers to look for job opportunities, bid on project listings, and connect with businesses to complete projects.

Job posting is free for a business looking to hire help. An entrepreneur or business posts a job opportunity or project with a budget. Freelancers can then bid on the job opportunity. At anytime, the entrepreneur can accept any bid to hire the freelancer or expert. The work is done by the freelancer as needed, and the entrepreneur pays for the service.

Surefirehire.com founder David Naumann saw a need to simplify the process of how entrepreneurs or businesses can access the expertise of freelancers. “We’ve hired people organically from the website and have seen a significant reduction in the administrative expenses by moving the freelancer hiring process completely online. Surefirehire enables small businesses and entrepreneurs to explore a vast talent pool and hire an expert to fulfill their projects or needs. Businesses are posting their open projects and getting responses from very talented freelancers.”

How surefirehire Works!

In simple terms, surefirehire works in this fashion:

  • Award - Either during the auction time window or after the time has expired, the Employer accepts a bid and awards the Opportunity to a Service Provider.

New Category created: Local Services (beta)

surefirehire has added a new category called “Local Services”. The “Local Services” category is excellent for services provided by businesses that needs to be close by or present at your home or place of business, in order to provide a service. If you have suggestions for new sub-categories, please use surefirehire HelpDesk.

If you are interested in this category, you are probably asking yourself the following questions:

    • How do I find low cost lawn care in my area?
    • Are there any options for lowering my lawn care costs?
    • Can I set my own price for landscaping?
    • Who provides the best possible home repair, for the lowest possible price, in my local area?

If any of these questions crossed your mind, then consider using surefirehire to drive-down costs. This is one way you can create your stimulus package.
